Monsieur Gris located in Amsterdam; Netherlands was founded in 2010 by designer Alireza Massoumnia in New York City. Its name is inspired by the supreme youth and beauty of title character in Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray". Initially launched as a men's accessory line, Monsieur Gris has evolved into a creative outlet with an atelier in Amsterdam taking on various creative projects including costume design, bespoke tailoring, custom bridal and patternmaking.

 

Tehran born, San Francisco raised, New Yorker by choice ... Designer Alireza Massoumnia charts his own course with inherent elegance and singular vision.

 

With a degree in fashion design under his belt, Massoumnia immersed himself in the fashionsphere, gleaning practical experience while honing his technical expertise. Stints at Thierry Mugler, Calvin Klein and Cartier created the springboard for Massoumnia to launch his own womens collection, Alireza in 1999. The critically acclaimed collection, which ran for seven years, was sold at prestige retailers Nordstroms, Decollage & Kaje Rodeo Drive and was featured in W, Vogue, Vanity Fair and the like ... editorially shot by Mario Testino, Annie Leibovitz, Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot.

 

Massoumnia has collaborated with some of the most iconic & successful names in fashion: Thierry Mugler, Francisco Costa at Calvin Klein, Zac Posen, Kimora Lee Simmons, Monique Lhuillier and Isaac Mizrahi. He is regarded and respected for his clean, precise, modern, refined aesthetic.
